Prepare Stove for Rust Removal and Polishing
Think safety, because cast Iron is very heavy, handle with care.
Do all your prep work before starting any polishing. This will certainly help prevent dust sticking to the finish.
Appoint a safe working area, cover with drop cloth or cardboard before placing parts there.
After removing doors, and other removable parts, place them on your work area.
Separate any pieces that have rust that will need wire brushing or sanding, work on these pieces first.
Removing Rust
Start with the wire brush, brushing back and forth to remove the rust.
When dealing with heavily rusted areas first rub with coarse sandpaper afterwards follow up with fine sandpaper.
Any hard to get at rust, treat with 2 parts water 1-part white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray let sit for a few minutes then wipe off.
Wipe with a water dampened cloth to remove any vinegar, then wipe dry.
Apply Wood Burning Stove polish/Paste.

Apply a thin coat stove polish paste to a damp lint free rag, rub the polish in a circular motion coating the area evenly and completely.
Let sit for 5-10 minutes, then buff to desired shine.
For an even better finish, reapply a second coat of polish paste and buff to desired shine.
Re-coat as needed.
Your Wood Burning Stove will look awesome after polishing.
Because you will fall in love with it, there is no doubt you will want to keep it that way.
Although I recommend at the end of each season, you re-coat with the polish paste. Certainly you can do it more often if you so desire.
