What’s the difference between my site and other sites?

In a nutshell, I am retired. The purpose of my site is not to sell you a service like most online sites.

I want you to have the knowledge to prevent damage to your home, and manage issues appropriately when the worst does happen.

Take advantage of the information on the site. It can save you money, aggravation and stress.

How did I get my experience?

After years of managing restoration projects at someone else’s company, I started my own restoration business. The business specialized in water and smoke damage insurance claims.

I worked for more than a decade, as a preferred, yet independent, contractor for several of the largest insurance companies in the U.S.

In addition to the restoration business, I also owed a carpet cleaning service. Several large carpet retail stores in my area used me as their preferred vendor.

Both of these businesses were based in Florida. Florida regularly gets large storms and hurricanes that do major damage. I have done restoration work for hundreds of houses over the years that suffered from being unprepared for these major storms.

Today, I am happily retired from the restoration and carpet cleaning world. However, as my daughter and son-in-law recently bought their own home, I found myself sucked back into the world of advice and repairs.

Much of the advice on this site started as my advice to them. They felt that there are so many others out there that can benefit from this advice, so I started this site.
