Video #1 – How to seal and cover stains on walls and ceilings

Basically, this video shows how stain sealer covers a black permanent marker stain on a wall.

While you certainly don’t want to use just standard paint, as stains will continue to show through. Because they may look covered when it’s freshly painted, dark stains and water stains will show through as it dries. While in this video we compare using standard paint to a sealer.

When considering, the cost of sealer, while it may seem high, is cheap compared to having to keep repainting spots. Stain sealer works well for water stains, smoke stains, crayon marks, and other marks and stains on your walls and ceilings. A must have product when you have a water or smoke damage.

Video #2 – Using a Smoke Sponge to Clean Drywall

Basically, In this helpful video, we show you how to clean and reuse a smoke sponge. Which results in a cleaner job at less cost as you don’t have to change sponges. Certainly, smoke sponges are a fantastic tool when it comes to cleaning smoke damage off surfaces with flat paint, like drywall.

Video #3 – Blocked Gutters and Roof Valleys

Another overlooked problem waiting to happen is blocked gutters. Because a blocked gutter can cause roof leaks, causing major damage to a house. Not only to the roof, but when gutters overflow they can cause a breakdown of wood. Overflowed water saturates into the wood, which causes the wood to rot. Plus, blocked gutters and poor drainage can also cause your basement walls to leak.

Make sure to clear gutters before and after every major storm.

This video discusses what to look for, and how debris can cause roof leaks and roof damage.

Video #4 – Where is the Water and Power Shut Off?

Most important, don’t wait for an emergency to go find water shut off or power boxes. In an emergency, you may need to turn off your water or power from the main shut off. Altogether, your whole household needs to know areas of all shut off points, from the first day you move in.

As can be seen In this video, we look at where to find the Power Breaker Box and the Water Main Shut Off for both the house and the full property.

Video #5 – Wet Drywall, Repair or Replace?

When you have recently had a water leak or flood in your home, you may be debating if you need to replace wet drywall, or if repairing it will do. This video compliments a post on why you may need to replace wet drywall.

Through a little experiment, we look at the damage moisture can cause when there is no airflow. If there is no airflow behind your walls, then it may be necessary to replace drywall that has been wet.

Video #6 – Is the Air Conditioner Discharging Water?

When your air conditioner unit is leaking, you need to check for blockage of the water discharge pipe. These pipes typically drain to the outside of your home and sometimes into a basement or sump pump pit.
